Switching to all Apple Hardware
Image via Wikipedia
I have been trying to streamline my digital life, since digital devices started to exist. Recently a ton of new devices and computers have come out so I decided to redo things.
The funny thing is that the reason I chose to go with Apple in the end (iPhone and new 120 gig Air book) boiled down to one simple thing, entertainment. A big part of my life is exercise, I like to...
Proper Twitter/Blog Etiquette
Having the ability to sniff all of the social/blog/news chatter on your company is a great and powerful tool that I have talked about a lot previously. Now that I am getting all of the information in real time from all of the different sources the new dilemma is how do you react to it.
I have been trying to strike the balance of when to enter into the chat and when not to. Additionally what is...
Amex cuts 10% of staff →
10% is not becuase of the economy...
I was talking to a very successful business owner today who said that even his company was laying off 10% of its staff due to the bad economy. My comment back to him was, are you really laying off 10% because of the economy… or is the thought of a bad economy vs. the “free money times” we just came out of forcing you to make the tough decision to get rid of nice people but whom...
Gas $1.86 in Laredo Texas
Gas is coming down in price fast. Just saw on the news that Laredo, TX has a station at $1.86.
Sadly I think this will mean the death to alternative energy… bad economy + low oil price= tough times for green.
I hope that I am wrong…
What are real Entrepreneurs?

Bad economies like this one bring quick transparency to who is “real” and who is not. Tony (Phonetag CFO) sent me an article that was in the New York Times yesterday of an interview with Guy Kawasaki. I am not a big fan of Guy but I thought the interview was great and I particulary liked this excerpt:
Q. What is your advice to entrepreneurs seeking funding or...
Gaming Google Alerts

The Google algorithm’s are supposed to be the best, so I was surprised to find something so simple has tripped it up.
Just to back up, I use 2 things to track companies/competitors on the web. They are both do the same thing, Google Alerts and Tweetbeep. I have lots of keywords in both services and when they show up on the we or twitter I immediately get an email. ...
Been a bad blogger lately...
I have had a lot on my mind but have just not had the time to put it all in writing. I hope to catch up a little this weekend (traveling every day this week).
But one thing that I have to tell everyone about today. I was on the phone with someone and they were talking about pricing an asset “In today’s economy” and I thought to myself how incredible it is that everyone can so...
Another angle on the economy
Like many I was thinking a lot this weekend about the economy. One angle which I have not heard people attributing to the melt down of the US stock markets is the lack of IPO’s over the last few years.
As money continued to pour into the markets after they bounced back from 2001, there have been very few new companies to put it into. The rules and lack of interest in IPO’s have kept...
Steve Fossett
It really is a shame that he died. He did so many interesting things and was the kind of guy that through his record breaking activities really helped to push some cool technologies.
Today I saw on Mahalo that he had paid for a super deep one man submarine that would allow him to go to the deepest aprt of the ocean, 37,000 feet down.
There are lots of people that pay millions to go to space,...
What a great way to wake up...

I met Pat Phelan about a year ago over email. He is a very popular (especially in Europe) entrepreneur behind the very successful Irish based business, Maxroam (a brand of his main company Cubic Telecom which was a TC40 company last year) as well as Twiterfone.
He through a party the night before TC50 started and I finally got to meet...
