Results from the iPhone's new rate-on-delete...
Marco is one of the founders of Tumblr (the blog platform that this blog is on). He also has an iPhone app called instapaper. The point he makes below is very interesting in how rating systems do not always reflect the real sentiment of the overall user base.
Marco is pointing out a real problem that Apple is creating, if you create a system that over punishes app publishers with negative...

Mahalo Answers Review
Image via CrunchBase
I was looking to see if I could find the total number of Voicemails left per month in the US last night. I decided that I would try out Mahalo’s new service, Answers.
Overall I think that the service is great. I posted my question and offered $100 (Mahalo takes 25% as a transaction fee so the winner only gets $75) which is their maximum as a bounty for the best...

Madoff scandall is just sad...
I was reading tonight that the 71st largest charitable foundation in the US, Picower, was shut down due to losses from Bernie Madoff.
There is no punishment that I can think of (other then paying back every dollar stollen) that could make things right for what Madoff did…

I love it when people do the right thing
I have written a few posts like this in the past. With Google Alerts and other search tools, small blogs like this one can sometimes get the attention of companies based on the subject of a post. Most of the time I am disappointed by the person that contacts me. Typically it is a form letter from some dumb PR person asking me to write about the product of some company that they represent.

The Owner’s Name is on the Door
– -Bernard Madoff’s website, the about us section
I had a little trouble sleeping last night so I used the Way Back Machine, and looked at Madoff’s site since he launched in in 1996. I thought the above quote was interesting that was in the “About Us” section.
The other...
Started playing with my BugLab
I started playing with my BugLab tonight. Going to have to put the real work on hold until the holidays (still have to focus on some revenue generating work this week).
So far I think it is a really slick and well put together product/package. I am really playing with it to learn a bit more about programming and open source stuff. I figure that hands on is the best way to learn so hopefully I...

If you can do it, this is the time to double down. Apple is a very disciplined company which is why they have the money in the downturn to do this.

Y Combinator is Dead
Image via CrunchBase, source unknownImage via CrunchBase
Sadly, and I truly mean that, I believe that the Y Combinator model is dead. The idea that you can put something out there on the cheap, get traction and then raise a quick “real” round no longer seems to be valid. While there will always be exceptions to this rule, from what I can see the market for these companies to the...
Illinois governor... holy Bleep

Watching the news on the governor of Illinois “selling” Obama’s senate seat. The audio clips that they have on this guy through the wire tap are incredible. If you have not heard the quotes go check out the below link.

Blackberry Storm

Played with the Blackberry Storm this weekend. Overall I like the phone but if you are going to get an all touch screen phone, the iPhone is still the choice for me.
At this point I feel that the Storm and iPhone are equals from a business tool perspective, so putting me over the top for the iPhone is all entertainment, the games, app store and iTunes...
