Posterous, a Tumblr competitor?
I was catching up this morning on the weekend TechCrunch posts and saw this one, Posterous Beats Tumblr In Simplicity.  As many of you know who read this blog (I am sure some don’t) the platform that this blog is running on is called Tumblr.  It is a really well thought out and easy platform to blog from and I have enjoyed its simplicity as well as the ability to customize things when I want...

Helio bought by Virgin
So it was reported today that Helio was bought by Virgin wireless.  The MVNO industry is the only one that I know of that comes close to the Airlines, in terms of markets that simply do not work.  You might say what about Virgin and Boost, those are 2 successful MVNO’s, and you are right but they are both owned 50% by Sprint which I am sure has helped them a little.  The only stand out...

JerichoPalooza Update 4
Well we have really had some time to think about things in regards to JerichoPalooza and we have decided at this point that launching a scaled back model is not what we had intended to do when we set out with this business and therefore we will not do it because of someone’s poor choice in regards to our confidential information. So basically we are putting are heads down again and pushing...

T-mobile VOIP (known as T-mobile @home)
I was helping a friend set up his PhoneTag today to all of his lines, Skype, Mobile, Office, Home, and even his J2 account.  He is going to be spending the next 2 months on summer vacation in Europe so having everything go to PhoneTag makes managing his voicemail much easier. Anyway, when he told me that he has T-mobile I told him that he should upgrade his blackberry to the T-mobile VOIP service...

JerichoPalooza Update 3
Well we had hoped to launch a scaled back version of the model today.  But when we really looked at all of the moving parts we realized that we have to delay it a bit. So now it looks like it will be Wednesday.  The site initially will be for non-binding pledges, just name and email address, NO CREIDT CARDS OR OTHER INFO WILL BE ASKED FOR.  The pledge will simply state that you would pay some...

JerichoPalooza Update 2
Hello all,  First of all, thank you for your kind welcomes to the Jericho community and your encouragement.  Reading through your emails and posts, I feel there are a few points that need to be clarified in a more condensed form. Per my statement earlier: 1.  Jerichopalooza was part of a larger business model/pitch that was extracted and leaked, thus leading to the threads and conversations...

JerichoPalooza Explained
Hi, this is James Siminoff, owner and creator of Jerichopalooza.com. I feel the need to clear the air on certain issues and misconceptions regarding the leaked site. - First and foremost, I am fan of the show.  In fact, if you have any contact with Jeffrey Braverman, please ask him to look up my name as I donated peanuts at the end of season one. Secondly, I am a serial entrepreneur.  When rumors...

Would You Pay $715 for $630 in Cash?
Last week I was meeting with Josh Kopelman at his Philly office and we were talking about all sorts of arbitrage opportunities, there was one in particular that was incredible but I can not blog it, sorry:(.  The web has created some really cool arbitrage situations this being one of them. For the crack money that Microsoft seems to want to pay to get into search advertising they might actually...

I was helping people register to vote...
I have hope that the below will be correct, because it is very true that right now most people are happy to be from somewhere other then America… squashed: When I asked one woman, about my age, if she was registered, she said she couldn’t vote because she was from Switzerland. Reflexively, I said, “Oh, I’m sorry.”  Sorry to waste a second of her time, sorry she wouldn’t be able to vote...

28 years later...
During Hillary’s speach this weekend I was thinking that since 1980 (when I was 4 years old) there has been a Bush or a Clinton in the Whitehouse: 1980-1988- Bush Sr. VP 1988-1992- Bush Sr. President 1992-2000- Clinton President 2000-2008- Bush Jr. President To think that our country has been under the rule of 2 families for 28 years seems so incredible 3rd world.  The founding fathers...

Trading Places with Indian Outsourcers →
This is a great post and video from my friend Tim Ferriss about a programmer who losses his job and goes to India to “see where his job went”. I have outsourced programming offshore in the past and found that I can develop quicker and cheaper by using programmers here in North America.  All of the programmers for PhoneTag are in NYC. Outsourcing is one way of doing business but as...

Amazon's rough Friday
It was not only the stock market having a bad day but also Amazon.  They were down for almost 2 hours today  They estimate their downtime at $31,000 an hour minute.  Ouch. Not good.

The Stock Market is Drunk
Yesterday according to the market recession fears were over and the market went up over 200 points, today we are in “America’s Oil Crisis” and the market is down over 200 currently. I wish that I knew more about the stock market because from what I know about business the time to make money is when the idiots are scared and based on the day to day changes in sentiment the idiots...

Voodoo is burning down its site
That is right not only does my friend at Voodoo cut his birthday cake with a Mac Book Air but he also is now burning his website down.  From what I have seen (he will not tell me why he set fire to his website) they will be launching something really cool soon and they are in the process of burning their website down before that. I love how Voodoo has been able to continue to inovate and preform...

WatchWatch
This gets me motivated to do more spoof ads for PhoneTag… samreich: Extreme Wine Commercial, directed by me, produced by CHTV, written by Streeter.  Digg it. The real joy here was filming at the same pool used for SNL’s famous Schmitt’s Gay beer commercial parody.  Okay, filming at a pool at all was pretty great.  Jordan dawned a swimsuit and held up a bounce board while treading water...

Converting Voicemail to Text then Back to Voice
I would not exactly say that this is how we envisioned the product being used but in the world of open source it is always nice to see what mashups people build. huge: I am so excited for Jott’s newest feature — reading text (RSS feeds) to you outloud over the phone! Given that I am a zealous PhoneTag user and have all my voicemail transcribed to text, this seems like a strange thing for me to...

– Rafeco (via deadlybrad42) (via marco) This is such a valid and true statement.  The harm that Hillary has done to Obama after she mathematically lost is incredible.  The only reasoning that I have for her staying in the race is to damage Obama enough that McCain wins, that way she can re-run in 4...
