I pulled this chart off of Google.  If you look at my very crude trend line since 1980, it shows that we should be somewhere slightly south of 8,000.
This is the bottom (or we are pretty close to it).  Time to take whatever money you have and start buying stocks like:
GE- P/E less then 9
ATT- P/E of 10
IBM- P/E of 10
Exxon- P/E of 9
Amazon- P/E of 40, put it in to show you how low the other companies P/E’s are
I am in no way a stock guy but you have to look at the above and think that this is fish in a barrel time.  The world is not coming to an end, just a lot of hedge funds over levered and people in the finance industry lost their minds sometime in the last 36 months.
The world is still in a growth mode…  I am positive, call me crazy.

I spent half the day today at the MET highschool in Providence, RI.  The school was founded by Dennis Littky, a entrepreneur-school principal.  The picture is Dennis (guy with the hat), Jodie who is the teacher of the entrepreneurship class and me.
I met with about 30 of their students who are in the entrepreneurship program (Yes an entrepreneurship program at a High School!).  The kids were great, could have stayed there all day.
I will do a blog post on my way home (Saturday) to give you all of the info about this truly incredible high school.  Lets just say I was blown away…

When everyone is worried it is probably not as bad as it looks. Or maybe I just like to think positive.

Steve Fossett

It really is a shame that he died.  He did so many interesting things and was the kind of guy that through his record breaking activities really helped to push some cool technologies.

Today I saw on Mahalo that he had paid for a super deep one man submarine that would allow him to go to the deepest aprt of the ocean, 37,000 feet down.  Fosset Sub

There are lots of people that pay millions to go to space, I would pay millions (if I had them) to take this sub to the bottom of the ocean.  I would really like to see what it is like down there.

Hopefully someone will take and finish this project now…

I was thinking of getting a Mac again yesterday but the person I was with who uses a Mac told me that there is just no good solution for mail.  I then saw this picture on Bijan’s blog today of his Entourage crashing and he says that “MS Entourage is the worst application I have ever used on a Mac”
If there was “real” Outlook on Mac’s, then I believe Apple would become overnight the #1 computer.  Microsoft has been very smart to make office for Mac suck as a package, Excel on Mac sucks, Word sucks and Entourage is a total piece of crap.
So I will be sticking with PC’s and will get the new Envy laptop by Voodoo, which is the only laptop that is a PC that you can feel good carrying.

Dave Gerzof, PhoneTag’s CMO, sent me this today.  As funny as it is, it is actually tells the story of what has happened so far in a very clear way.

What a great way to wake up...

TechCrunch40 Conference 2007Image by netzkobold via FlickrImage by netzkobold via Flickr

I met Pat Phelan about a year ago over email.  He is a very popular (especially in Europe) entrepreneur behind the very successful Irish based business, Maxroam (a brand of his main company Cubic Telecom which was a TC40 company last year) as well as Twiterfone.

He through a party the night before TC50 started and I finally got to meet him in person there.  We have had a similar background in Telecom, we had both been successful in the phone card business and both are very glad to have moved out of it.

There is a certain type of entrepreneur that I really could sit and talk to for ever, the “real guys”.  The ones that just go out there and do it.  Pat is one of them.

Well anyway back to the title of the post, today Pat put a post about me on his popular blog, that was just incredible nice and really just made me smile.

He was also nominated for most influential blogger for Ireland, if you don’t mind take a second and vote for him by clicking here.  If you dont know him dont worry, I can assure you he is the best in Ireland by far.

Jason is an amazing (and pretty famous) entrepreneur.  I get such a thrill every time I meet someone that I look up to in the start up world and find out that they are using our product.
Makes all of the hard work feel more worthwhile.

I have always wanted to do this business.  Pig Tones sells funny GPS audio files.  I am sure they would get old after a while but definitely would be more fun then the monotone lady telling me to “make the nearest legal u-turn”
I am going to but the Stewie Griffin one for my Garmin today.  Not sure if there is a big market here but one thing I do know is that people are always willing to pay for entertainment…

Failed Banks and their Beautiful new HQ's

3 of the failed banks have very new and very palatial HQ’s.  When the focus moves away from the business and more towards the show you have to worry.

"Hope for the best, plan for the worst"

I have heard this said by a lot of people and it is just so true.  The world goes through cycles and to be successful long term you have to live by the above, it is the only way to survive long term.

CNBC's ratings

With all of these financials issues I wonder what CNBC’s viewership is right now.  I am sure it is breaking all records.
