the biggest rule facebook is breaking is: you don’t fix what isn’t broken. now they have a broken facebook and its because they keep trying to change it.

Saw this quote on Fred Wilson’s blog this morning, it is from his niece (a junior in college, her blog is ecospiky’s Xanga Site). I have a half written post about the broader topic here. Too many companies innovate themselves out of business.
I hope to finish my thoughts on this in the next few days but the summary is that you have to know what business you are in and what value you supply to your customer. Facebook’s value proposition has been clouded by its seemingly childish burning desire to kill a much smaller and non-competitive business, Twitter.
