Twitter to the Rescue

Erin, my wife, called me yesterday morning a few minutes after she left for work and told me that she could not even get out of our neighborhood onto the main road.  She asked me to look and see what was going on.

On Google I saw this:

Google accurately showed a back up on PCH but did nto tell me anything else about it, how long it would last, etc.

So I went to twitter, typed in PCH and got this:

This was exactly what I needed. Told me exactly what the problem was, even had a link to this picture:

I know that I am not telling people anything that they do not already know about the benefits of real time search.  However I thought this was an interesting real world example of how twitter’s feed was so much more powerful then anything Google could produce.

Example’s like this make Google feel more like a print newspaper…
