Taking taxi’s to the next level

When we started traveling to Mountain View for Ditech Mark told me about an App on the iPhone called TaxiMagic.

In certain cities (San Francisco is one of them) you load the app and it will bring up the nearest Taxi’s to you.  You can then book a Taxi through the app.  About 30 seconds after booking it will confirm the taxi that is coming to you and exactly how far it is away (even shows it on a map).

When you get to your destination you can then pay the cab through the app including tip.  The way the payment works is by linking your credit card to your TaxiMagic account.  This is also awesome because never again do you have to hear from the taxi driver the 100 reasons why you can not use your credit card.

Technology that changes your behavior is something that I find so incredible.  Today I will fly into San Jose, take a taxi to the office, then from the office to dinner and then to San Francisco airport to fly out.  Total cost will be less then a rental but even based on price I still would have rented a car before having this app as I really despised the old way of booking and paying for cabs.  My taxi usage is probably up 1,000% since downloading the app.

If you are in a area that TaxiMagic works, try it out you might be amazed out how much your usage of cabs rises.
