Resources in a start-up are always scarce. In order to achieve growth and get around bottlenecks (especially in software) it sometimes takes a little tape and chewing gum.We rolled out a soft launch of our SimulSays product on Handango today. In order to do this we had to use every option that Handango gives you to display your product in the wrong way. Because SimulSays is a service, Handango requires an API integration in order to fulfill the orders. If we were to wait for that to happen we would probably launch with them sometime in May/June. Since that time line was completely unacceptable we hot-wired the system. Already we have had a few orders come through and from the customers side it appears that we have integrated our systems with Handango for auto-provisioning.I get such personal satisfaction out of pushing things faster then they “should” go. There are many benefits of doing this including time to market and when your programmers start on a project you already have proven it to be worthwhile for the company. When you do the programing first you risk some of your most valuable resources in your company without a gaurantee of return.
