Obama and Innovation
Late last night I got an email from the Obama campaign, after their 3 state win, asking me to put up a pledge to match a new donor’s donation. I clicked on the link and pledged $100. I was able write a message to the donor and allow the donor to write a message to me.
This morning I received the following note from Ruth M. in Israel:
“Thanks, James! I’m an expat — I live in Israel. I’m for Obama for many reasons, among them my belief that of all the candidates, he is most likely to bring healing to this region of the world, too. The Middle East needs change, too, and hope!”
From a personal side it made my donation feel a lot more meaningful than just a straight donation.
The entrepreneurial side of me loved the entire process. Very innovative way of efficiently involving small donors that would typically feel less connected. In a way it creates a sort of viral and almost social effect for donations. I am not sure if it is possible to do something like this with SimulScribe but I will think about it today.
Kudos again to Obama and his campaign. I hope that their innovative approach to campaigning will carry over into the Whitehouse.
