I liked the irony of this photo after my last post with a photo of a bank run in the 1930’s.
This photo was taken today in Beverly Hills in front of the Sprinkles Cup Cake store, the line was so long that I could not get it all in one picture. People were waiting almost an hour to get a cup cake.
Sprinkles has been around for a while and always has a line. I love their business as it is successful because of the focus. They only sell cup cakes, they are the best at making cup cakes and because of that they probably make more profit then all of the bakeries in LA put together. I am sure that they could make other things like cookies, etc., but that would kill the brand and probably the line.
By focusing on one thing, they focus on Cup Cakes we focus on Voicemail, you make it very hard for anyone to ever take your customer or compete with you.
When you are small and your overall market is large focus is a key to success.
