A real entrepreneur day

Yesterday was what I would consider a real “entrepreneur” day.  The thing that I find the hardest about being an entrepreneur is the extreme highs and extreme lows that you can experience and how close together they can come.

My day yesterday was a perfect example of that.  I started the day on a high getting interviewed by Donny Deutsch.  The whole process of going to the set and doing the taping took up most of the day.  Around 4pm the line producer called me and said that the segment had just not come together right for a few reasons and they cut it out of last nights show.

After the excitement of doing the show and telling everyone that I knew to watch the show it was to say the least deflating.  Further at SimulScribe we count on these press events to maintain our extremely high growth rates.

Then after some back and forth negotiations (begging) the show decided to produce a new segment for tonight’s show.  So I went to a studio in NYC and they re-tapped the new segment which will air tonight.  The new segment is much better then the one that would have aired yesterday and is much more about the product, which is great, should get us more customers then just a normal segment on the company.

I talk to a lot of entrepreneurs and I would say that the high/low issue is something that we all face.  I have tried to focus on not allowing my emotions to be too extreme on either good or bad news.  I have become better at this but I have a lot passion and emotion invested in the company.

The only thing that I have found to smooth out the emotional side of the business is to call mentors/colleagues in entrepreneurship.  The network that you build can be so critical as without mine, yesterday would have been a much tougher day.
