SpinVox’s investors ended up with $0.50 cents on the dollar; the company raised too much money and didn’t deliver. A competitor in the space SimulScribe, just struck a deal worth $17 million with Ditech, which seems to be more of a rational value for the transcription service.

Nuance acquiring Spinvox was a very interesting thing for me. Especially since this comes right on the heals of their (Nuance’s) aquisition of Jott. I have a lot to say about this as you might imagine but will refrain from doing it here.

One thing that I will say is that a fairly crowded market has now been shrunk to only two players, Ditech’s PhoneTag (Me) and Nuance. I am really looking forward to 2010 now:)
