The TechCrunch post does a great job at summing up the reasons why we changed our name. The actual name change will happen Friday night as we still have to make sure that all of our customers are fully aware of what is going on.
We really had been trying to come up with a better name (that we could also get the URL) for over 2 years. When we finally got a verbal acceptance from the old owners of PhoneTag for $30,000 I literally stopped sleeping. I knew that the name was incredible and once it was becoming a reality I was extremely nervous that something would happen before the transfer took place. I will always remember getting the call, “The transfer is done, Phonetag is ours!”
I am so pleased with the name that we finally came up with and the opportunities that it will open up for our business. You can not imagine the frustration of constantly meeting people who would say, “Yeah you guys were in the New York Times, what’s the name again…” SimulScribe was just not an easy name to remember or spell.
I in no way feel that a name can carry the company but I do know that a bad name will always impede an incredible product from becoming a great success.
