I do not understand how people are on all of these social networks. I find the idea that someone can find me and ask to be in my network so weird. How do you say no when someone requests to be your friend on Facebook or Linkedin.
The only social network that I am on is Linkedin and it is 100% useless, garbage. I have a bunch of people that have connected to me that I would be happy to share to share things with or ask questions to. But I also am attached to customers, vendors, employees, friends, etc., so now that I am connected to everyone it looks like my contact book. Only with my contact book I can choose who I have and who I don’t, on Linkedin you can not do that. I mean I guess conceivable you could deny someone entry to your Linkedin kingdom but that would be such an asshole move.
Then there is Tumblr. It is like a Social Resort. I can follow anyone that I want to, reblog them if I want to and people can follow me if they want to. Everything is up to the individual. You meet who you want to and interact with the people you find interesting. There is no concept of this “friend” on Tumblr and that I love.
Tumblr is is the best social network out there. It allows anyone to access you and you to access anyone without the hassle of having to be attached. I look forward to the day I take down my linked in account. For now though I will keep accepting the invitations with a smile but spend all my social time on Tumblr.
