Using the brakes

Yesterday when I grabbed my mountain bike to go out for a ride I realized that the front brakes were locked up.  I tried some quick fixes but do to time and my lack of knowledge of disc brakes I did the quick and dirty and took the front brakes off.

I never realized how much front brakes added to my ride until I almost shot off a cliff.  It struck me as ironic that on the rest of the ride I had to ride slower, because my stopping distance was now almost double.

I think that this relates to start-ups and business.  You need to go as fast as your equipment will allow you to.  When you go faster then your infrastructure can handle bad things can happen.

Raising too much money can be like taking the brakes off, if things stay straight you are fine but if there is a turn in the market you might be going so fast that you will just fly off the cliff.
