Blog fight

I am having what I would call a “Blog Fight” on Dan Graham’s blog. He wrote PhoneTag a suggestion urging us to do our service for free and I wrote him back a very nice email explaining why we charge. He then published that email as well as some nasty comments, it is pretty funny, check it out by clicking here.

Update:

I made the following comment at the end of this guy’s blog which he deleted.  If you are going to have comments on your blog then don’t delete them unless they are spam or ridiculous, this was neither:

Dan,

First of all, in response to you saying “I’m sorry you took my post so badly”, explain to me how I should interpret the title “PhoneTag.com Laughs in the Face of … Me” combined with you suggesting some sort of Foul Play?

You say that you are confused as to why I am turning away from what I also recognize “could” be more money.  However, my past business experience has shown me that building a community without monetization is not a guarantee of success.  For every GrandCentral bought by Google, that builds the network without charging there are hundreds that do the same thing and wind up dead, do you remember the “dot-com” years?

We have made a conscious choice to build a profitable company with minimal funding.  The only part I find confusing is why does a guy that runs a traditional e-commerce business try and give advice about things that he does not personally understand.

Jamie
