Is User Experience the next wave?
It seems lately that a lot of the most popular services and products are selling based on the best experience and less on the technology behind them. Look at things likeApple’s iPhone, while yes there is a lot of technology behind the phone the real killer app of the phone is its incredible graceful user experience. I just wrote up a pieceabout how a new spin on UI might be the next telelphony system.
Then earlier this week I saw the dead simple video monitoring company, Avaak(tough name) , just received an additional $10 million of funding from some rockstar investors like Qualcomm.
They have a incredibly simple package to do video monitoring. In fact they have been able to build the cameras to require no wires, they run off of a battery that lasts for a year. Now while it is technology that allows them to have a camera run without a power cord, it is really the consumer experience that they are able to deliver that I believe will result in their leapfrogging the older competitors in a somewhat crowded market.
If you are looking for something to build or a business to start, I would start to think about technologies that have not lived up to their full potential and if a better user experience could change that…
