Apple Buy or Build this Now, Please…

There is a story in TechCrunch today about a wireless sync APP for iPod/iPhone/iPad.  As I have added devices to my iTunes account it becomes more and more clear that Apple need to embrace the cloud.

The first problem is that syncing is broken to iTunes.  It does not properly sync where you are on say a TV show to all of your different places.  It is supposed to but as you grow your device list, I currently have my Air Book, iPhone, AppleTV and iPad running together, things just break.  It is so frustrating when you have a book on tape to have it continually resetting to the beginning after a sync.

Syncing should no longer be done to a single physical source, it should be done to the cloud and it should be done wirelessly.  Then every device should hang off of the cloud to stay sync’d via wifi or the cell network.

The cloud is the Achilles heal of iTunes, they really need to embrace it ASAP or they will open the door to a competitor.
