Entrepreneurial Medicine
Josh Kopelman did a post today definitely worth reading (Click here). The post is his ideas about how the “bread crumbs” of data left around the web from all of us could be used to figure out causes/preventions/cures for diseases.
I had two major incidents last year that caused me to look at ways that entrepreneurial thinking could assist medicine. In both cases, my father’s brain cancer and my sons Galactosemia, I have been able to find alternative cures/treatments and even assist the doctors in their thinking about the diseases.
In my opinion, medicine has hit a scientific ceiling. While we still are progressing in medicine we are not doing as fast as we would if there was some entrepreneurs in the mix.
It would be interesting to put a conference together that is half doctors specializing in diseases that have sort of hit a wall in terms of treatment progression and half entrepreneurs like Josh and myself who can think way outside of medicine to create data and cures that a scientific doctor would not think of.
